Details:
"A cross between Townes Van Zandt and Sonny Terry....Not only does he have a spotless guitar technique, he also has a beautiful voice....A terribly good roots disc." (translated from Dutch) Freddy Celis, Belgium https://www.tradebit.com

"Over the course of 14 songs he paints a picture of life in those dusty towns that your parents would never stop at unless they were out of gas...Trussell keeps it simple and evokes the real ghosts of Townes and some other folk blues legends like Sonny Terry and Mance Lipscomb. If you want to keep it real then you want this disc in your collection." Corky Carrel https://www.tradebit.com

"The more you...listen, the more you...enjoy the voice...and you realize it''s the one you wish you were born with." Kelly Maxwell, United Kingdom https://www.tradebit.com

"Clearly a must-have for fans of James McMurtry...Excellent, intimate, moving." (translated from Dutch) Benny Metten, Belgium https://www.tradebit.com

"I''m madly totally completely in love with Texas Gothic and I''m playing it full blast in my workroom. This CD is a revelation, a joy, a delicious companion." Naomi Shihab Nye, TX

"I haven''t been this totally blown away by an album in a long, long time." Mike Holliday, PA

Texas Gothic landed a spot on Sunday Sagebrush Serenade''s program of best folk releases of 2005. Hosts at two different radio stations in the Netherlands put Texas Gothic on their top five lists for January 2006.

A Texas native, Trussell often heard freight trains rocketing down the tracks 50 yards from his childhood home in the shadow of the King Ranch, as well as coyotes, jet fighters and the occasional "Quit that crying or I''ll give you something to cry about." His songs reflect the flat, unforgiving landscape in South Texas and the eternal pull to see the world on the other side of the horizon.

Texas Gothic was co-produced by Kelly Werts, who played fiddle on two cuts. Trussell lives in Kansas City with his wife Donna, a writer. Promo CDs available on request to texasgothic@https://www.tradebit.com.
