Details:
https://www.tradebit.com says, "....sitting somewhere between Iron & Wine and Bright Eyes, the Red Rose Café play the most delicate folk to be heard this side of the Atlantic. The highlight of this 2-tracker has to be Lines of Your Chest, complete with a quaint violin part that skilfully avoids the clichéd and well-trodden Celtic folk path...." - https://www.tradebit.com _____________________________________________________________________________ The Letterkenny Arts Centre says, "....their music is neither folk nor indie but a credible mix of the two, incorporating a myriad of musical instruments and creating a mellow and languid atmosphere that lingers long after the last chord sounds" _____________________________________________________________________________ The Red Rose Cafe is the musical pseudonym of Raphoe-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Philip Morrow. On the 23rd of August 2006 he will release his debut album, "The New Year Tapes" at a launch in the Balor Theatre, BallyBofey at 8.30pm. Tickets are available now priced 8 from Universal Records in Letterkenny. _____________________________________________________________________________ In June 2006, The Red Rose Café had the privilege of recording with producer Terry McGinty in his Valley Music Studio for two days having won the Letterkenny Arts Centre''s competition to discover and promote new music in the North-West area. The two songs Philip and the band recorded in June are featured on "Atama", the compilation record the Arts Centre released showcasing the four winners from the competition at An Grianan. _____________________________________________________________________________ Following the release of Atama, The Red Rose Cafe returned to Terry to start work on what would eventually become "The New Year Tapes". The ten tracks on the record feature such local musical luminaries as Joseph Brown on clarinet and bass; Hannah Gallagher on vocals and flute; Darragh Boyd on violin and vocals; and Jonny Brown on drums and vocals. All the musicians involved are classically trained and this is evident in the subtle melodies, harmonies and arrangements which litter the album. Already the Red Rose Cafe''s music and lyrics are drawing comparisons to Bob Dylan, Bright Eyes, Iron and Wine, Bell X1, Neil Young and Josh Ritter. _____________________________________________________________________________ The Red Rose Cafe''s debut LP, The New Year Tapes is available at Universal Records, Music Centres and Sparks Music in Letterkenny, as well as in Cool Discs of Derry. As soon as the CDs get through it will also be on https://www.tradebit.com _____________________________________________________________________________ For further information check out https://www.tradebit.com or get in touch with Philip at Gortaquigley, Raphoe, Co Donegal.
