Singer/songwriter Ruth Bloomquist, 2003 winner of Merlefest’s prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest in the Gospel category, has now released her third CD. One Day Ain’t Enough, is her most exciting work to date. Produced by herself and her bass player husband Max, One Day Ain’t Enough consists of 11 of Ruth’s fine original songs and two of the couple’s favorite performance covers enhanced by the studio work of some of Michigan’s finest bluegrass musicians.
Ruth Bloomquist has been making music in the Great Lakes region for most of her life. The early influences of Joan Baez, The Beatles, John Denver and Emmylou Harris, just to name a few, fueled the heart and desire to write, sing, and perform. In High School Ruth started performing at school functions and coffee houses with a girlfriend. Ruth and her friend, Deb, began writing songs together, and the partnership lasted 7 years with the duo playing clubs, local TV, and a tour on the University of Minnesota’s Lyceum circuit.
Ruth continued to perform solo while majoring in Theater at her local community college. While there she met her husband Max and soon to be musical partner Steve Reeths. The three started making music almost immediately as the popular Mid West acoustic group Amaryllis performing folk, bluegrass and “folk/rock”. The band was known for their original songs, strong harmonies and unique arrangements of well known and not so well known cover tunes. Together they self-released two recordings.
Music takes Ruth & Max wherever it will, and their plan is to continue that journey together sharing music with as many audiences as possible.

“Clearly among the most popular acts on the program that evening and it’s easy to see why. Her skills as a singer and performer speak for themselves, and the musical accompaniment by Max provided the perfect backdrop for her stunning vocals”........
