Details:
When asked what she wished to achieve from her recently completed album, Camile Youssef replied with a simple yet promising statement, “I want to write music that helps my soul, and that has the ability to help others. I want to write something that matters, that means something to someone. Even if it’s just one person, then I can truly believe that I’ve done my job as an artist.” This might seem like a naive proclamation from a new and still developing artist but it’s Youssef’s positive and nonsense free attitude that makes you want to genuinely believe in her.

Camile’s roots in music started very early on in her life. She studied the violin from the age of eight to thirteen while playing in her schools String Orchestra. From the age of ten to seventeen she played the trombone while simultaneously from ages fifth-teen to seventeen she played the Euphonium in her High School marching band.

Her devotion to music carried on into her college years at East Carolina University as she participated in the school’s Jazz and Chorale Ensembles from 1998 to 2001. Youssef even completed a Vocal Performance Minor along with her Communications Major while attending the university - and this was just the beginning.

It wasn’t until 2005, just after completing her Masters in Communication Arts at NYIT, that Camile stepped out of her square box and started her own personal musical journey by forming her first band.

Morning Breath was a full voice rock band, whom of which Youssef sang lead vocals as well as wrote the material performed. Eventually the band split up for a brief momment upon the lost of their drummer, but quickly reformed again in 2006 with a new drummer and a new name: Supatheif. This time around the band managed to record several demos and preformed in various New York hot spots such as 169 Bar, The Alphabet Lounge, Trash Bar and Bar East.

Unfortunately, neither band ever developed a true following and Youssef began to feel the crushing pressure of carrying a band that never really shared her same intensity and passion for reaching her main goal: Bringing her music and art to the masses and giving back to the public what music has given her over the years.

“To me, music is a comforter, an escape, a motivator. Whatever I need music to be, there’s always a song that I can find to support my feelings. Music is the greatest friend I’ve ever had. I don’t mean to sound like a dork but it really is. It lets me know I’m not by myself in my thoughts and feelings.”

So in 2007 Camile split from Supatheif and decided to go solo. For the following three years Youssef spent her time developing as a solo artist; finding her own unique, acoustic sound, writing new material and preforming acoustically in places like Bar On A, Yippe Music Cafe, The Alphabet Lounge & Brooklyns’ Belleville Lounge.

Then in 2010 she took it all to the next step: The Studio.

Camile Youssef’s vocal acoustic album “All By Myself” features 12 self-written and original songs including a full voiced bonus track:
1. See Why
2. Searching for Love
3. Scream (Bonus)
4. La, La, La, La
5. It’s Tough
6. Super Jaded
7. Sad Happiness
8. Wondermix
9. Picket Fences
10. Creeps
11. Ugly
12. The Wanting

It’s hard to pin a name or genre to this artist’s sound, most likely because of the broad range of influences that have inspired her through the production of this album. As a singer/songwriter Camile has looked to artists like 311, Ella Fitzgerald, Nirvana, Ani DiFranco, DC Talk, Primus and the Red Hot Chili Peppers during the development of her unique sound. Each song showcases her ability to write raw and naked lyrics that highlight her melodic vocals and simple chord progressions. Youssef truly supplies her listeners with the bare essentials.
