The Block Begins…
In summer of 2003, an unlikely meeting meeting occurred between two Hawaii Pacific University students. Jimi (https://www.tradebit.com Super_St*r) had gotten fed up with balancing school and a dead –end retail position. He clocked out for the final time, picked up a pair of drum sticks and headed for the heart of Honolulu’s tourist dstrict in Waikiki. Around that same time, the word smith (there’s a pun here) C-ROC, a fist semester student at HPU would happen by J: and stop to listen to the funky hip-hop grooves he was laying down on the drums. A few months Later Cali Native Di-El, heard about some students doing hip-hop on the strip in the keys and after several visits as a spectator jumped in the cipher delivering solid freestyles with an undeniably commanding presence. And thus the Trintity was born. Enter Existence, the Orange County (Los Angelos) native found the boys of summer after hearing about the group from some friends and became a regular on the block trading bars with Di and C-Roc Nightly. It was looking like it would be an all Cali affair until the “kid from Boston” (better known as FUTURE) checked in complete with his trademark Shivering penguin East Coast swag. Along the way several incarnations of The Block would emerge but when it was time to hit the studio, the All-Stars would prove that they earned their place on the first team.

2330 Kalakaua Avenue, Waikiki is freshman release for the group. Jimi (j:pop Super-Star, Konzertmeister, Producer, composition, instrumentation, etc) delivered the entire score to 2330. With J:’s music combined with the rest of the team’s vocals, the result is a debut record that foreshadows the future successes the All-Stars will undoubtedly achieve. There is a track that will satisfy every brand of hip-hop head. From the dance infused, cinematic, Destiny, to the ’87 throwback, How Hard…?, The All-Stars have every sonic base covered. Look to, “Little Engine” for an electro-charged 2010 flow. “It’s the block” recalls images of carnival in Trinidad with a Afro-Cuban Edge. Falling is a Head Banger while Falling II sounds like HAL 2000 scored it himself. If you are tired the sound of uninspired music that fills the airwaves today, The Block All-Stars will more than exceed your expectations with a commercial sensibility.
