Upcoming CD Release of Kale`a, March 20 (Sunday), 4-6pm, at The Intramuros Music Hall, 101 Brentwood Ave, South San Francisco, CA 94080.

“Kale’a”, Kawika’s newest compilation of Hawaiian mele (songs), will evoke an array of emotions from joy and happiness to wistful longing. These songs have been individually chosen to spark the different feelings that love represents from new beginnings, playful courtship, deep passion, love that has lasted through the years and love that has left before its time. “Kale’a” features several original compositions written by Kawika.

Featured on this compilation is "Ho’i Hou Mai" (Return to Me), a song that celebrates a deep and everlasting love. This highly anticipated single was released on February 1, 2011 and has hit the airwaves in Hawai''i and abroad. Ho`I Hou Mai is available for download now at: https://www.tradebit.com.

With the release of "Nālei" (2005), and now “Kale’a”, Kawika continues the traditional sounds of Hawaiian music. It is within the stories told in the mele that have been passed down for generations, with its morals and values, that people can truly be enriched in their personal lives. Everyone can benefit from the lessons taught and Kawika hopes to reach people far and wide, touching those that may not be familiar with Hawaiian culture and share with them the spirit of aloha.

A portion of the proceeds from this showcase directly benefit the Kaululehua Hawaiian Cultural Center.
Kawika Alfiche and his hālau (dance troupe) have toured New Zealand, Mexico, Honolulu-O`ahu, Hilo-Hawaii, Kahului-Maui, Arizona, Utah, Monterey-California, Santa Cruz-California, Los Angeles-California, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Sacramento and currently preparing for a month long (March-April 2011) east coast tour of New York, Vermont, Boston, and Connecticut.

Kawika Keikiali''i Alfiche has been teaching hula and educating the general public about Hawaiian culture for more than 17 years. Kawika has been a long-time advocate of the Hawaiian culture and is the Kumu (teacher) for Hālau Hula (dance group), Hālau o Keikiali''i (https://www.tradebit.com), and Director of the Kaululehua Hawaiian Cultural Center (https://www.tradebit.com). With these organizations, Kawika is able to bring to the mainland, the essence of traditional customs, values, and protocols of the Hawaiian people.
