This project was meant to be a collection of songs Joseph had written for services at his church, but as inspiration ensued, he began creating songs from his own experiences and emotions. Joseph’s goal has always been to produce music with sincerity, passion, and excellent musicianship. Most of the tracks deal with our relationship with God, while at the same time there is plenty of meaning accessible to those who don’t consider themselves particularly “religious”. Some of the best musicians in the Reno area have contributed to this project, including Joel Edwards on a rippin’ r&b sax solo, Lee Warner on percussion, and Cheryl DeRosa on violin, producing some very artful string lines. Like all of Joseph’s projects, every lyric has meaning, every note has purpose, every song can be appreciated on the car stereo, or with more critical listening via headphones. From the first track alone, Sound in the Valley, the listener is able to sample the scope of the music - the heartfelt acoustic guitar intro, the intriguing distant tone of the first phrases, leading swiftly into the swirling vocals, rich string section, and the uncommon 6/4 beat of the chorus. That’s all it will take to compel the listener to continue, one track after another, through the rest of the album.
