Details:
"SONGS THEIR MOTHERS SANG" CD
...Songs seldom (if ever) heard nowadays, sensitively performed with an "ear" to AUTHENTICITY. The FLAVOR of the music and narratives are what set this album apart. That, and the fact that ONE man is doing it all!

This charming CD brings the "one-man band" into the 21st Century. No longer a guy with a bass drum, cymbals strapped to his knees, and a harmonica stuck under his nose, the one-man band can now be a full orchestra, a Vaudeville or Ragtime band, a Gay 90s group, a dance band and chorus from the ''20s...even the "Jax Nonpareil Marching Band" (click onto "Semper Fidelis" to see what a one-man band can really do, nowadays). Vocals are performed by the "Jax One-Man Trio". This is actually an album for ANYONE in the 65-70 yr. old range or older! In addition to bringing back fond memories, the CD is really a conversation piece as well!

The 23 songs (nearly a full 50 minutes of music and narratives) on the album were hand-picked after over a thousand personal performances in care homes and at senior centers. This is THEIR music, absolutely GUARANTEED to bring smiles (and perhaps a tear or two). From the old Gay ''90s and Vaudeville songs they sang with their parents as kids to the later "Bigger-Band"-type stuff they used to dance to in those romantic, youthful days, the FLAVOR of each particular piece is captured in the rhythm, style and performance. If you have an elderly relative or friend in a care home you KNOW they live with their MEMORIES. They have little else, and you can ENHANCE those memories with the music and narratives on this CD. Even the LABEL may trigger memories! Good for small "boom-box", portable "walkman" w/headphones, or care home intercom... First in a series of sentimental offerings by JAX.

..(I''d like to add a "personal note"...the CD title came to me from the last time a tearful old gal approached me at one of my thousand-plus performances at care homes and Sr. Centers. "That''s a song my mother used to sing", she said, and I realized it echoed so many comments over the past nine years! All the fancy stuff I played, all the "showoff" music, displaying my "magnificent" keyboard, etc., PALED in comparison to just these old songs, played AS they USED to be played! THIS is where it''s at!)
