When his fifth album “We Have Liftoff” was released last year, it was seen by fans and others as Ringler’s finest work; a huge leap forward with a fantastic collection of great songs having been recorded on digital equipment for the first time. Airplay on community, university, and internet radio stations followed, both in the states and abroad.
Everyone thought “We Have Liftoff” would be a tough act to follow, but incredibly, Ringler has done it, and done it in stellar fashion. His sixth album, simply entitled “VI”, is a stunning collection, with twelve tracks written by Ringler, and all thirteen performed, and recorded by Ringler, with the exception of his son Seth Ringler handling lead guitar duties on the explosive track “Dreamcharger”, and Gil Lleonart handling all guitars on the absolutely superb cover of “Smoke On the Water”.
The first few seconds of opening track “Soft Velvet Glove” signal in no uncertain terms that a truly special album is about to unfold, and each successive track clearly confirms that. From the jazzy and guitar-driven “In Spite Of All The Rain”, to the Beatles-flavored “Endocrine Love”, “No Better Time”, and “For Pete’s Sake”; from the bouncy “Maxwell Lear’s Song” (based upon the wonderful “Maxwell Lear’s Book" by Michael Garcia), “A Song For Kelly” (the touching tribute to a friend’s daughter who, despite the odds, is currently attending college), and “Close My Eyes” (another in a long line of heartfelt love songs from Ringler to his wife Rella), to the final fadeout of “Fill The World With Love”, “VI” will leave you fairly well astounded to be sure.
