…..Before there was a St. Elmos Fire metal band from Hollywood there was another band. It was also called St. Elmos Fire. Between the late 80’s and early 90’s SEF recorded and released 4 successful albums worldwide. But before that there was this other band from Davis, California which really started it all.
From 1979 to 1983 that “other” St. Elmos Fire only managed to release one homemade single (Really in Love) but that barely describes how prolific and daring this band actually was!
If you listen carefully you can detect the crossover between the two versions of SEF. The songs “Don’t Drop it” and “Too Bad” are some of the few examples that were recorded by both bands.
But other than that, they really were completely different. Guitarist Jeff Jones (and one of the founding members of SEF) was the only link…..
