Born in https://www.tradebit.comn''s to Newfoundland''s beloved folk rock singer/songwriter Lukey''s Boat Laverne Squires, Selina Boland has been destined for artistic success with musical influences filling her childhood in the eclectic range of The Doors to Jefferson Airplane to renowned local band Figgy Duff. With prolific talent for songwriting and composition, Selina launched her career in 2005 as a solo artist and braved local audiences to quickly become one of the most popular up and coming local talents. Self-taught in guitar and studio production, Selina created the four piece-band "Full Day Ahead" in 2007 and was immediately sought out to play in virtually every main venue in the city. Selina''s appeal has remained her spiritually-focused musical poetry that forces honesty and purity into a new movement of apocalyptic proportions. Selina''s fusion rock song "Hero", showcasing her vocation for literary arrangement, has been featured on NTV, OZ FM, HITS FM and CBC. With acoustic in hand, Selina has also performed in the quaint cafes and clubs of Manhatten, indicating a confidence and coming-of-age that has generated a new sound and direction in her musical growth.
Most recently, she recorded her new song "Orphan" in order to raise funds for Bring Me Hope. (See https://www.tradebit.com) This song was recorded by Justin Merdsoy and features Brant Parsons on percussion, Andrew Stickland on bass, and Justin Pittman on lead guitar. It was chosen to be part of a compilation album by AAMP for Newfoundland and Labrador which will be released in February, 2011.
Currently, Selina is performing both solo and acoustically with Christian Johansen playing lead guitar. She continues to inject unbridled talent into culturally-relevant melodies that are inspiring an evolution in Newfoundland''s music community.
