Details:
Satevis (formerly Antares), started out of the ashes of another band called Corsis. Corsis existed from around 2003 til about 2007. Back then we played very slow atmospheric doom metal. The band had formed as something more of a recording project, we used the band to write our random ideas down and practice, but we never played shows. As we decided to get more serious, our sound began to evolve away from the doom metal and into more of a progressive metal direction while maintaining the use of growls.

We decided that with our more serious dedication and our sound change that a new band name would be an appropriate way to shed the past and continue along. We switched our names to Antares, named after the star. We began to practice and write some new music. After that we began recording our first demo, called Different Light (2008). By the time the demo was released, we had already written some newer songs that reflected an even different direction. During the time we released Different Light, we had never really felt that it represented how we were as a band because our sound was already evolving away from that sound.

We started playing some shows while continuing to write new music and honing down the sound we felt represented us best as musicians and humans. Eventually our sound became more of a symphonic death/black metal hybrid which abandoned most of the stuff we had done in the past, while still retaining the influences we’ve had along the way. We finally finished writing enough material and decided it was time to go back to record. The new EP, entitled Centralia (2010), resulted from the hard work put into both songwriting and recording. At this point we decided that Antares wasn’t a name that stuck out enough (due to other bands sharing that name), so we changed our name to Satevis, which bears the same meaning.
