I originally entertained the idea of a down-tempo, trip-hop album back in February 2010. It was to be all instrumental and properly "chilled," in contrast to some of my other jazz-rock fusiony efforts previous.
I had the opportunity to hear Emily Wryn sing in March and KNEW I wanted to feature her vocals on the album. I was delighted when I asked her and she agreed to participate.
This is not "strictly" a down-tempo or electronica affair, but a mish-mash of a few genres, including trip-hop, jazz, ambient, blues and spoken word, among others.
