Details:
When Manny Piras and Will Galanis first started playing music together in their freshman year of high school, it seemed to only be a way to prevent boredom in all the hours they would spend after school, waiting for rides. They would sneak into the band room, making sure no one was in there, and when the coast was clear, they would start jamming out to classic rock songs, one on piano, the other on drums. After a while, they decided to ask Charles Finn, a friend with no previous musical experience, to join them to play the drums. It was a bit rough at first, but soon Chuck could keep a pretty sweet beat, and they were sort of a band; Manny was just beginning to learn guitar but definitely knew his way around the keys and the bass, while Will could play guitar and a bit of piano and bass as well. Certainly none of them considered themselves to be singers, but a band''s gotta have vocals, so they decided they would all do some singing. Not too long after this, their buddy Drew Wood joined, bringing with him a knowledge of the trumpet. Though he had a natural talent as a tambourine player, the others agreed he could be more useful, so they started teaching him some other instruments. They were later joined by their pal Connor Hanna, who played a sensuous sax but also began learning guitar and bass and stuff. They all shared a common interest in the groovy sounds of the sixties and were not too thrilled with the current music industry, so they decided to make their own type of music, influenced mostly by classic rock, but also by a wide variety of different genres ranging from jazz to foreign culture songs (see "Meatball Man"). Now all they needed was a name, so after a day of brainstorming nonsense words, "Hawkfield" emerged as the best option. They practiced in Chuck''s basement (and still do), where they also started writing and recording their own songs, using a small mixer they pitched in to buy from the internet. After many hours of recording these brand new songs, The Hawkfield Band has completed their first album, Business.
