I have vivid memories from childhood of pushing back the curtain beside my bed, placing a hand against the cold window pane and gazing for what seemed like hours beyond my grasping hand into the clear, crisp Mississippi night, rich with twinkling stars. For most of my childhood, until our parents remodeled the house, I shared this long narrow bedroom with Eddie, my older brother. At the far end of the room he had a bed and window all his own, and after receiving a prized 6 transistor, battery powered radio for Christmas, he would listen through its single earphone to music from places as mysterious, distant and untouchable as my twinkling stars.
If there''s one thing that most of us have in common, it''s that time or place we find ourselves curious about, even overwhelmed by, the enormity of that which lies beyond our grasp. It can be frightening, so unsettling that we close our eyes and hide beneath the warmth and security of the covers we pull overhead. How we emerge from our cocoons, determines who we are and what we will give to or take from the surrounding bounty. However long or short it lasts, home is that time of nurturing and growth, that point of reference for all we experience once we take flight.
Maggie''s House is a real place in an imaginary sort of way, encompassing memories of home, which for Eddie and me is located in the hill section of Northeastern Mississippi - in the small town of Iuka. Over the past 35 years or so Eddie has written scores of songs. In Maggie''s House we collect and record some of our favorites with memories of home. We hope listeners will share and enjoy a bit of what the world looks like when you view it from the hills of Mississippi.

Iuka is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in the northeastern corner of the state of Mississippi, within a hoot and a holler of Tennessee and Alabama (Mis-ty Owl).
