The biggest joy for Airaksinen during this project has been co-working with her old friends Juha Viitala, South African Stockholm-based singer André De Lang, Esko Lampela, Hannu Lamminmäki, big brother Kaarle Mannila and the men choir Akademen with the conductor Kari Turunen, both of whom she got to know during her years as a member of the female choir Lyran.
Laura Airaksinen is a Finnish singer-songwriter from Helsinki. She has been playing the cello and piano since early childhood, conducted various a capella groups, sung backgrounds and vocals in bands, arranged and composed music for choirs and dance pieces, and mainly written songs.
Airaksinen became a candidate of political science from the University of Helsinki in 2001, worked at the Finnish Broadcasting Company for seven years and started to make music more seriously. She has lectured on songwriting, music theory and radio journalism and presently teaches piano and music in high school while playing gigs with her new band and working as a freelance journalist.
After leaving the radio in 2006 she began recording her debut album with a number of musicians in her home city as well as in Stockholm and New York, where she lived in 2008. "The back bag album" will finally be released next year.
As a separate project for christmas 2010, What on Earth Productions has released her song There Won´t Be Sorrow.
Part of the profit will be donated for the benefit of children in developing countries through World Vision Finland.
