You can imagine what a surprise it was to Andrew Leonard when he went to Europe for a year to work and study international business and the Lord told him to lead others to Him through music. He was in prayer at his apartment in Cologne Germany [Oct. 2009], and heard the Lord ask him to pick up a guitar and put on a praise and worship concert.
At this point, the 20 year old had been involved in music since the young age of 12, but mostly dabbled in secular pop and dance music. He had recorded 3 CD''s and DJed countless parties and events.
Andrew started playing in praise and worship groups when he truly accepted Jesus as his Lord in 2007. “My main issue with this request from the Lord was that I played the bass! I didn''t own a guitar and I had never played more than a few chords on a guitar before. Nevertheless, I hate to put God in a box, He is after all the creator of the universe; what is it for Him to teach me guitar?” Playing bass had always been Andrew''s main instrument [he played flute in a symphony band from 04''-06''].
Searching for a Christian community for his time in Germany, he stumbled upon a Christian fellowship meeting. After speaking to the pastor''s wife about his prayer, she offered a guitar she had at her house. Over the following months when he wasn''t working, he would be practicing the guitar, asking the Lord for His guidance and Anointing.
In December Andrew led his first praise and worship concert in Detroit MI. at PIME Missionaries. The power of the Lord was very evident that evening and the Spirit seemed to confirm his call to lead praise and worship. Many people started to encourage him to continue bringing others into intimate contact with Jesus through music.
From January to May, Andrew was studying business in a monastery in Gaming, Austria. Daily he was leading praise and worship and receiving praise instruction from an experienced and holy man of God.
Returning to America, the Lord provided youth groups for Andrew to pray and worship with as well as other events where Andrew would lead others in prayer and praise and worship.
He started writing music in Austria and as soon as he got back to the US, he started recording. There seems to be a strong call on Andrew''s life to bring others to Christ Jesus, the Savior of the world.
Into the Depths is Andrew''s attempt to follow the will of God and praise Him in song and lead others to glorify His Holy name. Come and join this youthful Spirit in adoration of our Lord.
