Debut CD.
Cellist Pamela Smits, a student of French cellist Jean Decroos (principal cellist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, who himself was a student of André Navarra), plays the cello in the tradition of the sonorous lyrical playing of the four French Musketeers; André Navarra, Maurice Gendron, Paul Tortelier and Jean Fournier.
Canadian-born Dutch cellist Pamela Smits and German pianist Sabine Simon first met each other in 1991, during a summer course in Ernen given by the renowned Hungarian pianist and pedagogue György Sebök. Later, they both studied at Indiana University in Bloomington (USA), Smits with famed cellist Janos Starker and Simon with Sebök, where a personal and professional friendship began that continues to this day.
"These two outstanding musicians have wowed many audiences, leaving them in awe by their brilliant performances with first-rate playing, impassioned musicianship and musical intelligence."
