Press Release: Deshawn White at work on new album Johnson City, TN – Hip-hop artist Deshawn White is at work on a new album, called “L.C.A.,” due out this year. Until then, fans can dive into the hook-heavy single “Hold On" .” “Hold On” is a major dose of all the things that make White’s music tick. A full-bodied sound that blooms from robust production, shining with clarity, brings out the full power of the beats. Besides the grooves, there are the attention-gripping and distinctive instruments and samples that round out the textures. Centermost in consideration of what drives White’s standout sound is the unique, rolling flow of his words, the catch of his rhymes, the charisma of his voice. Ultimately, it is White’s personality at the center of everything he does. His lyrics are meaty and more than just bling-burdened posturings. Though themes common to much of the rap industry’s output does manifest in his words, his songs are about more than shallow wallet-stuffing – they are the aspirations of an artist who came from little and is pulling himself up to success through his own personal power. And White doesn’t shy away from topics such as religion and politics. His music is, at the core, about the human spirit – all from White’s singular perspective. “Hold On” is “a song about my struggles and the value of life,” he says. “It really just tells how how important it is to fight through lifes road blocks.” The song’s realism has much to do with its selection as the forthcoming album’s lead single. It’s all heartfelt truth without the posing that saturates much of the hip-hop scene. White began his professional rap career in 2004 but had been honing his skills since 2002. White hooked up with a hip-hop group named The Ndividuals; other members included Menace, Marcos Stony and Synphany. Following his stint with The Ndividuals, he branched off into his solo career.
