The Bogsiders group, made up of Brian Blood and Christopher Caouette, was born out of a creative twist of fate. Connecticut’s newest act grew up nowhere near where their influences stem from. A definite 50’s rockabilly-traditional country sound is heard as well as strange twists of folk, traditional Irish, and punk. Influenced by such greats as Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Sr., and John Prine, they take their sounds and blends them with those of the likes of The Pogues, Christy Moore, and The Clancy Brothers. In March of 2002 Brian released his debut full-length album Simple on Six 13 Music, an independent label he formed the previous year. Recorded at home in his studio, Simple made up of twelve original tracks, chronicles the ups and downs of life on the road, relationships, and love gone bad. Chris on the other hand has been composing and recording electronic and orchestral music for the past twenty years and touring the country in support of his original Dragonwind series of albums released on Etherean Music, C&B Records and finally Inner Force Music. He has also been busy scoring soundtracks to area Irish dance troops and was part of the Cinephonix team who works on major motion picture and television music. Brian has toured with both local bands as well as being a support act for international bands as well. Playing along side local Connecticut groups in pubs and Irish Homes alike. He has also opened for Celtic Rock Favorites Seven Nations, The Highland Rovers and The Prodigals. Along with these bands, Brian also toured with Derry, Northern Ireland’s hometown heroes The Whole Tribe Sings as a support act for many of their New England area performances. Brian has now paired up with his long-time friend and collaborator. Together they formed The Bogsiders and serve up their unique fusion of past meets present in a way that keeps crowds cheering for more. When asked what their music is like, Brian’s statement “We’re country-folk-punk-Irish-rockabilly!” makes perfect sense.
