Details:
Bill decided recently to hang up his corporate hat in retirement and pursue his dream of writing and recording his first album. Born and raised in Southern California, Bill grew up enjoying the music of the ‘70s and ‘80s, and has come to appreciate alternative and rock music through the ‘90s and ‘00s. After forming a band named “Not Quite Right” in 2010, Bill was able to build upon his musical skills established at a young age, giving him confidence to begin writing and playing original material. Teamed with his drummer and producer Rick Smith, Bill wrote and recorded one song a week for seventeen weeks in a row, generating his first album titled “No Time” in five months. Drawing from experiences with people and personal relationships, his debut album is a mix of Rock and Alternative style music. Playing upon his curious nature and the desire to experiment, he also created songs with styles that include Reggae, Punk, Metal, and Country, all in an effort to unearth a style to be developed as he grows in music. The result is a fun mix of songs that are a good listen on road trips or for parties. Bill and Not Quite Right are currently in rehearsals in preparation for their mini 2011 Summer Tour throughout Southern California, where Bill hopes to develop an expanding fan base as well as settling into a style he can call his own. Stay tuned for his yet untitled second album in 2012. “Music is a great release for me, as I’m able to get these thoughts and experiences out of my head, and share them with others.” In addition to rehearsing and planning video shoots, Bill is working with his niece Robin, an up an coming young artist, who is planning the release of her own album later this year. Bill enjoys road trips with his wife Sherri to Palm Springs, where they spend time in their desert home away from home. “We do a lot of hiking in the desert, which I’ve wrote about on my album. It’s a good way to clear my head and gain appreciation for the wonderful climate we have in California”. And, “playing in a band is way different that being in the studio. It all happens fast when it’s live, and in my mind, makes me better. It gives me a chance to see what works, and bring the band in on things we may not of tried if it was not first conceived in a controlled, focused environment like the studio.”
