POPULAR SINGER RECORDS NEW CHRISTMAS "CLASSIC"
Vocalist Anne Stephens has recorded a new Christmas song:
"Keep Christ In Your Christmas This Year."
The song was inspired by Fox News TV’s Bill O''Reilly''s 2005 crusade for traditional Christmas,
and was co-written by songwriters Russ and Ron Pruitt.
Pruitt says, “O’Reilly had an Alliance Defense Fund Attorney on his show, and they were talking about how ridiculous and flat out wrong it was that certain retail stores were ordering their employees to replace the ‘Merry Christmas’ greeting with ‘Happy Holidays’ or some other generic greeting. Then O’Reilly and the Alliance Defense Fund kept up the heat until they won out for ‘Merry Christmas,’ and I thought there needed to be a song about this. I collaborated with my brother, who is also a musician and songwriter, and we got the song done, but too late for the 2005 Christmas season.”
Russ Pruitt picked Stephens for this project. Pruitt says, "The song is timely, and has the potential to become a Christmas classic. It combines contemporary and traditional themes, and a voice was needed that could do it justice. In all my years in the music business, Anne has one of the greatest voices I have ever heard. She consistently dazzles crowds in her live performances, and she will not disappoint with this effort. We were really pleased she agreed to do the song."
Stephens is from the Ashland, KY area, is an educator at Raceland--Worthington, KY High School, and has a busy concert schedule. Anne''s husband Tom arranged and produced the song, and teaches music at Raceland--Worthington High School.
