THE HERALD:

"Angela Jossy sings heartfelt and often personal songs, using her powerful and soulful voice to announce a new presence on the Northwest scene. Jossy''s mostly acoustic music builds on traditional pop structures and melodies, providing a platform for an honesty in her voice that rings through each performance; the best parts of Jewel and Sarah McLachlan mixed with the intensity of Alanis and Courtney." - Brian Beckley The Herald

FROM https://www.tradebit.com: (Seattle''s Sparkly Indie Pop Press)

Jossy is a competent song-writer with a airy, pleasant voice and a twang for good measure. South Puget Sound''s answer to Alanis Morrisette, her songs brim with similar young female angsty song themes and lyrical reprimands, both to men and, often more harshly, to herself.

The song ("Tolerate Anything") features a grindier electric guitar that suits her nicely - with a voice that sweet, a little contrast helps makes the track a bit more savory.

"Angela Jossy, with full band, no less.... My god, what a treat Tacoma had Saturday night, February 19, 2005.

"A little over two years ago (June 30, 2002) I had one of the surprises of my life -- this girl Angela Jossy was spearheading a fund-raiser for the Alliance Against Domestic Violence. At that time, I was, I thought, quite familiar with Angela Jossy, what with her being a local singer/songwriter, and what with me not really being that much into "singer/songwriters." In the two years that https://www.tradebit.com was doing its thing prior to that event, I had checked out, in one way or another, most everybody in the music business here in Tacoma and I just couldn''t quite get it on with "singer/songwriters." End of story, right? Wrong.

"Maybe I should indicate a little something here -- on a personal note, my music tastes gyrate mostly around hard and heavy rock and symphonic metal. Well, what with that being said, my involvement with Angie''s fund-raiser was pretty much going to be as a representative of https://www.tradebit.com and we were going to do whatever we could to help bring this event to the public''s attention, and that we did. Anyway, along comes time for the event, and TacomaScene is down at the Emerald Queen covering the show. While I was there, I thought all the performers were pretty good and all and that it was really great for them to be doing what they were doing and I was hoping that all the effort that was going into the event was going to be a great help for the Alliance when it was all over and done with.

"Well, along comes Angela Jossy and her band''s time to perform. To this day, I can still remember standing there in amazement as to how much talent this girl Angela Jossy had up there on that stage. "Singer/songwriter," I think to myself, my god what a misguided blip of a description of this phenomenal performer. To have had the opportunity just the other night to again see this marvelous entertainer on a stage in my town, backed by a full band, holly molly, what an opportunity that was for me.

"Granted, Angie is a very talented "singer/songwriter," but good god, that alone doesn''t even come close to describing her ability. You sit there in the audience, maybe not knowing this girl from Eve, waiting for her to crank up and spew out whatever it is she plans on cranking up and spewing out, and then, all of a sudden, wham-bam, you''re sitting or standing there all mesmerized not being able really to believe your ears as to what you''re being blessed with listening to.

"There is one undeniable fact that cannot be ignored -- this girl has a set of pipes and it would well behoove you to be able to say to your friends that you have had the opportunity to witness a stage performance by Angela Jossy and her marvelous singing and songwriting ability, in addition to being able to crank up and spew out some doggone good cover tunes also.

"A Tacoma secret is no longer a secret as far as I''m concerned -- Angela Jossy is in the house. -Terry Kuehn, https://www.tradebit.com February 21, 2005
