On July 1st, Written Prisms released their new album, Ellipsis, to an audience of over 500 people at the East Coast''s newest music venue, the Rams Head Live! in Baltimore, MD. They were not only one of the first local unsigned acts to headline the club, but the turnout yielded was far beyond what is expected from an area band.
At over 78 minutes in length, Ellipsis is an innnovative trip through the many diverse musical influences that each member of the sextet draws from, as well as the daily operation that is everydayness. Moving slyly between jazz, hip hop, funk and even afro-beat grooves, the album has something for every music lover without losing its cohesive sound. Ellipsis is the follow-up to their debut album Inclination which received overwhelmingly enthusiastic reviews from several industry publications after its release in Oct. 2002. Laurin Woolan, columnist for the definitive Baltimore/DC Metro Area music magazine, Music Monthly, praised the band by saying, "Written Prisms have seriously blown my mind. Now and then I get blessed with a real find, a gift from beyond and this time around this is it". Ellipsis showcases a more mature group of artists as Written Prisms have truly found an effective and intriguing way to create an original sound that encompasses the finer flavors of a variety of musical styles.
