Colandra McDowell is the vocal catalyst and powerful psalmist of this generation. The oldest of four children, Colandra comes from a strong family and music tradition that are an integral part of her childhood. On the stage performing her first solo at the tender age of 4, she dedicates her career to her late father. Due to her father’s amazing dedication and incredible ability to capture the audience, his influence still permeates Colandra’s sensational voice.
Born and raised in Lumberton NC, Colandra grew up in a household filled with spirit, soul, and songs. Her voice has the influence of various sonic textures, and pulls at the core of Christ Music, having all worship on one accord. She notes, “The goal of my music is to lift the soul of the hurting, bring the message of Christ outside the four walls of the church while drawing the hearts of men back to Jesus.” She also desires to inspire young girls and deliver an alternative for those who desire a break from music with no sound meaning.
Colandra has auditioned for several mainstream shows and competitions experiencing both successes and failures; however, God has pressed upon her heart to walk by faith and allow Him to direct her path into the music industry.
Inspiring, affirmative, exuberant, playful, and eclectic in its appeal and intention – that is the music of Colandra. She has begun to make a name as a performing artist as her voice permeates the air waves.
Colandra graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.A. in Communications and her first solo album entitled, E.T.A. is currently available.
