Jessica Frost-Ballas, harpist, is a professional musician devoted to the magic of the harp, delighting her audience with varied and distinctive repertoire, including music from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods; traditional folk melodies; and an expansive selection of contemporary favorites. Jessica received her Master of Music in Harp Pedagogy and a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. Jessica currently serves as principal harpist for the McLean Orchestra. While in college, Jessica performed with the Harp Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble. She freelances throughout Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads and maintains thriving harp and piano studios in Winchester and Bridgewater, Virginia. As a pianist, Jessica is the music director and choir director for Middletown Presbyterian Church and the Parish of the Valleys Parish Choir.
Jessica began her harp studies at the age of 10 with Hye-Yun Chung Bennett of Chesapeake, Virginia and continued studies with Elizabeth Blakeslee of Falls Church, Virginia and Bridgett Stuckey of Winchester, Virginia. She has performed in masterclasses for Dotian Levalier and Astrid Walschot-Stapp and is a member of the American Harp Society, Washington Area Folk Harp Society, National Federation of Music Clubs, and the American String Teachers Association. Jessica lives in Stephens City, Virginia with her husband, Steven, and their shelties, Merlin and Archimedes.
