Introducing Russia''s Emerald Mind. On their 9-song 48-minute debut titled "Tales of Soveena", you get a solid slice of Symphonic Power Metal that is full of elite musicianship and the wailing operatic vocals of Svetlana Vysotskaya, which are really quite impressive. Although Svetlana is the front person and her vocals help to carry "Tales of Soveena" you can not discount the contributions of the other musicians in Emerald Mind - they are all well accounted for to help give "Tales of Soveena" a complete feel. The opening track "The Ripper" gets things off and running in a big way and is a definite https://www.tradebit.comm there the band are only getting warmed up as you can hear on the following tracks "The Flying Dutchman", "Winter" and "This Dying World". Among the strong material present here, I would have to say that my favorite track is the 9-minute album closer "Lyric of My Soul".Just a great epic number that features various tempo changes and the stellar musicianship that makes "Tales of Soveena" such an enjoyable and interesting listen. Overall, I would say that Emerald Mind have acquitted themselves quite well on their debut. Svetlana Vysotskaya could be one of the bright new stars to emerge from the Symphonic Power Metal world in 2010, but it is the cohesion and chemistry of the band that help to make "Tales of Soveena" such a good release. If you are missing the Tarja era Nightwish or if you just want to hear some great music than you should turn your attention to this great new Russian band.

The ravishing Russian beauty Svetlana Vysotskaya fronts this young power prog metal band from St. Petersburg. This has got to be some of the best operatic singing I have ever heard on a metal album, or indeed any album, Svetlana really is a match for Tarja, Simone Simons and Katherine Jenkins, she is pitch perfect and her diction is precise and crystal clear. The songs, with lyrics based on various real stories and folk tales, thunder along like the Flying Dutchman on a storm tossed sea, but they are at their best when they calm and just let Svetlana shine, like on their finest number, the duet ‘Sweet Poison’. If they can turn and tone the guitars down and up the symphonic keyboards, to provide a rich luxurious backdrop, and concentrate on creating songs that simply showcase the band’s greatest asset, Svetlana’s voice, then they could have a massive future. Fans of Nightwish, Therion and power metal can download this for free or buy the CD from their website https://www.tradebit.com and just listen to that voice, yep just listen to that voice, amazing.

Emerald Mind is a new Russian band, but their full-length debut ''Tales of Soveena'' is not a Russian-language CD. Its style is female fronted symphonic power metal immediately bringing to mind the group that contains Arya, Nightwish, Legenda Aurea, Amberian Dawn, Visions of Atlantis, Dreamer, Imperia, Operatika, Coronatus, Adrana, Pythia, Sphinx, Overdream, Luna Aeterna, Rosa Ignea, Wildpath and so on.

Vocalist Svetlana Vysotskaya is of the operatic/soprano variety and she''s quite amazing. Actually, she''s one of the better vocalists of her kind, offering up plenty of moments that really stick with me. So she''s easily competitive with the many other similar vocalists, and luckily the music is strong too, as it''s upbeat and catchy, with enough guitar solos to highlight some of the songs. Every song is at least great and about half of them are truly spectacular.
This one is simple folks. If you''re a major fan of female fronted symphonic power metal (with operatic vocals) and some or all of the bands listed as comparisons, you''ve got to grab this as soon as possible. Awesome!
