“Her tales can be anything from hauntingly reflective to highly infectious folk/pop songs. They are distinct stories of fear, betrayal, discovery, love found and love thrown away.” Herald Sun

Marta was born in Lublin, Poland during the period of Soviet communist dominance in the 1980s. Her mother, a singer, and her father, an engineer straight out of the Polish army, emigrated to Australia where they dreamt of a better life in a country where their children could have the opportunity for a brilliant and free life.

Growing up in the 90s in the Conservative Australian Capitol Territory lead Marta, a restless teen, to find comfort in folk singer songwriters who expressed similar themes of lone“Her tales can be anything from hauntingly reflective to highly infectious folk/pop songs. Marta’s honest lyrics and passionate voice lay bare her soul for all to hear. Polish born, Australian raised singer-songwriter Marta grew up in the Conservative Australian capital of Canberra and left the family nest at 20, moving to Melbourne to focus her career entirely on the arts.

Whilst studying and performing at the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts, Marta worked part time in the arts field where she was exposed to a wide array of Australian and international art.

It was here that she met Hunters & Collectors front man Mark Seymour, whom she would co-write several songs with. In time, this creative union inspired Marta to continue on the road as a singer-songwriter.

With a handful of songs she had co-written with Seymour, Marta recorded her debut EP with Cameron McKenzie and Mark Seymour. She later went on to record a further 4 tracks with producer Danny Simcic (Real Life/"Send Me An Angel") and UK ex-pat Martin Van Hoof Jenkins to complete her self-titled full release.

Marta’s evocative ballad about leaving her home, “Isabella”, was featured on ABC Radio’s Oz Tracks site and has become part of the ABC Jukebox of all Contemporary Australian Music.

Later in 2007, Marta became a semi- finalist in the 3PBS Festival of Song Competition with the tracks “Loving Is Easy”, “Café Sunshine” and “Cold Night”. The decision to follow her heart into the world of music was proving itself to be the right choice.

In 2008 Marta was approached by Toronto-based management and eventually found her way to Canada. Within a year, Marta was opening for her collaborator, iconic Australian artist, Mark Seymour on his Canadian tour. In September of 2009, Marta was awarded Best International Artist for her single “Loving is Easy” at the New Music Awards in Ontario, Canada.
The following April, Marta traveled to New York City to work with award-winning director Devaashish Khanna to shoot a music video for her song “Annie''’ at the infamous Hotel Chelsea. https://www.tradebit.com

In the summer of 2010, Marta opened for Phoenix-based band Vinyl Station (Gin Blossoms, Scott Kusmirek) on their U.S. tour, followed by a string of shows in Europe, where she gained many new fans and further cemented relationships with existing admirers.

After a busy recording schedule, encompassing sessions in Brooklyn, New York (where she worked with emerging artist Peirson Ross and Canadian producer Jason Mercer) and Lecco, Italy (where she seized the opportunity to self-produce), Marta completed her latest release Rebel Baby, with a series of recordings in Toronto, featuring Canadian alt-country artist Justin Rutledge on backing vocals and Jerome Godboo on harmonica.

During her European dates, Marta was approached by classical conductor Giancarrlo Urso and first violinist Maurizio Azzarello with an interest in writing orchestral arrangements of her compositions. As part of a special live DVD release featuring tracks from Rebel Baby, Marta returned to Italy in December 2010 for a Christmas concert at The Royal Teatro Sociale of Lecco, Italy.

Since the release of her debut EP, Marta has evolved from songwriter to producer/arranger. The newfound honesty in her songs is more intimate, moody and human. She gently strums the emotional strings of all too familiar universal themes. In Rebel Baby, Marta has felt true human frailty and is sharing it with her listeners.
