Shem Meluce, a singer, songwriter and musician from the beautiful island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean, became interested in music as early as eight years old in Church. Shem, a natural born talent, discovered his skills as a songwriter when he wrote his first song, which was sung by a local church group at a Christmas event. He later composed songs for weddings, dedications, baptisms. This young man with his gentle style and big heart, also ministers to the prisoners and performs frequently at charitable fundraisers.
As his skills as a self taught guitarist developed, he and other young men from his community of Laborie, formed a band called United Brothers For Christ (UB4C) of which Shem was the lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter and so they featured in concerts island wide allowing him to share the stage with some of the best in Gospel with the likes of music heavyweights Lt. Stitchie, Junior Tucker, DJ Nicholas, Evangelist Wendy Mitchell, Jadee, Phil Tarver, Pastor Terrance Baynes, Emrand Henry and others.
Shem Meluce blends smooth vocals with conscious lyrics to produce a unique style of gospel music. His message is one of redemption, highlighting both social and spiritual issues that affect today’s generation. His sound - timeless, skillfully weaving vibrato with melodic falsettos backed by Reggae and Zouk rhythms
From August 2004 to 2005 Shem recorded and released a number of singles including “Everything Is Gonna Be Right” and “Nothing Can Compare”with his band which got a lot of airplay on radio stations locally, regionally and internationally, which open the doors for Shem to perform and travel regionally and internationally as far as Senegal to perform. In 2009, after much agitation from fans and producers and DJ’s alike, he decided to go into studio with various producers and always included members of his band for live instrumentation on all the tracks of his first CD called “Out of the Shadow”.
