My experience with music began at an early age. I remember being 8 years old singing along to songs like Boney M’s “Mary’s boy child” and “Somewhere in the World”. I used to sit by the radio and just be amazed at all the music coming through and little by little I would memorize the songs. I developed a deep appreciation for music and I slowly started to sing whatever I could master. I am sure it was then that God blessed me with a gift and all I do now is try to share it as much as possible because it is not mine to begin with. My music draws deeply from my experiences in life and the experiences of others. It is about life in it’s fullness, it’s about love, pain and the pursuit of happiness. I believe all music should inspire others to be good and to do good. Music is a powerful tool and I express this power in my music and lyrics. I love the empowerment and richness music brings to our lives.
The story behind Stay with me goes like this. One day the devil came to take my life in the night. I was laying in my bed in St. Louis, when that demon came to choke me. instant clouds of darkness surrounded me and I felt shivers and panic immediately overtook me. This monstrous demon came to overtake me in the night and little by little it was choking the life out of me. I tried to scream but nothing happened, words couldn''t come out. I called my brother next door and still no words came out. I could hear my thoughts and the words in my head were, "Man, I think I am going to die". That moment I thought of what most people think of in these types of situations. I screamed the words "Jesus" in my head and I heard my voice bounce across the walls. The words came out and I jumped out of bed for a deep breath. The demon in slow motion retreated back to it''s hell hole and then I fell on my knees and from my heart I prayed and repented of my sins. Sweat all over my body, I went back to sleep the second time. I was shaken a bit but I was confident Jesus heard my prayer and would stay with me. What happened next was exactly this song. I went back to sleep and this time instead of the devil, angels came and they were singing a chorus called "Stay with me". In my sleep I recorded the entire song they sang and it was the most amazing thing I had ever heard of in my entire life. As soon as my eyes opened, I jumped to my keyboard across my bed and started to recreate what I had heard. This is a true story. It is a poor attempt at what the angels sang to me that night. Nevertheless, I am grateful that God saved me that night and I have this song as proof to me, that God can show up when I need him the most. I wish the same for you too and I hope you''re blessed by the song.
