Equal Parts folk, pop, rock and Americana.

14 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Folk Rock, FOLK: Modern Folk

Details:
The first thing one notices about NYC area singer/songwriter JOE WHYTE is his unprecedented vocal range. Nominated 3 years in a row for Best Male Solo Performer at NJ''s Asbury Music Awards, Joe''s voice has been called both "ethereal" and "haunting."

Combining equal parts folk, pop, rock and Americana, Joe''s songs are riddled with, "time tested melodies" (Time Out NY). His newest album, THE LOWER 48 (released in Summer 2005), was described by Jersey Beat magazine as "supremely subtle beauty" and "one of the most moving and reassuring albums I''ve heard in quite a while."

In April 2005, Joe returned for his 6th tour of Ireland in the last 3 years. He was invited to play the 8th annual Carlsberg Rhythm and Roots Festival in Kilkenny, where he opened for alt-country legends Son Volt, in addition to 2 headline gigs of his own. He also returned for the second year in a row to showcase at both the Dewey Beach Music Conference in Delaware and the Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, PA.

In September 2005, Joe signed an endorsement deal with Elixir strings, showcased at the CMJ Music Marathon in NYC and was named a semi-finalist in Discmakers/Taxi Independent Music World Series. He was also a recipient of an ASCAPlus award - a merit-based songwriting grant from ASCAP, the performing rights society, and been invited to Los Angeles to perform at the monthly Americana Music Circle in early 2006.

Joe is represented (legal) by George N. Stein, former attorney and manager for the late Jeff Buckley.

Here''s what people are saying:

"supremely subtle beauty...this is one of the most moving and reassuring albums I´ve heard in quite a while". - Jersey Beat

"Time tested melodies" -Time Out NY

"...his tasty new disc, The Lower 48, is a compelling blend of rootsy acoustic chords, harmonica trills, and reflective, mid-tempo rockers that flirt with country." - The Irish Voice

"Joe Whyte seems to have reached the point in his career that most singer/songwriters strive for. He is comfortable as a writer - even if that means knowing that less is more - and he has balanced the medium of acoustic and electric guitars in his music." -Josh Davidson, Chorus and Verse (www. https://www.tradebit.com)

"The songs all produce great melodies combined with an arrangement of fine lyrical hooks." -Indie Music Explosion

"The simple but thought-provoking lyrics are well portrayed by Joe''s crystal clear emotive voice, and the musicianship is tight but full of life with a sweet intensity tucked neatly in the background. A songwriter needs passion and talent, and Joe proves to have both of those qualities." -Music Morsels
