Founded as the ''Psalms Alive Choir'' back in 1985, Praise Gathering has developed significantly in recent years and now comprises over 550 singers who represent some 200 churches across Central Scotland, with c400 performing at each of the four summer concerts. In June 2010, c7000 people attended the events in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and for the first time, Edinburgh''s Usher Hall. It''s all about ordinary people, with ordinary voices singing praises to God, and the wide range of musical styles is reflected in the 15-80 age range of the choir members, who rehearse for 10 weeks prior to the annual Summer concerts.
The content and quality of the concert programme has enabled many Christians to positively invite friends, family and business colleagues into an environment of praise in the certain knowledge that "God inhabits the praises of His people." We are aware of many people having been blessed, encouraged and helped through either their involvement in the choir or by attending a concert, for which we give God all the glory. In addition, the financial surplus from the concerts has enabled us to support the work of a number of Christian organisations, namely Scripture Union Scotland, Gospel Literature Outreach, Care for the Family and Mission Aviation Fellowship.
