Breakfast All Day is the solo project of Erik Kertes; a freelance bass player who lives in LA and plays for dozens of artists.

Erik Kertes loves to Rock! Born in Los Angeles, he learned from an early age that music is the key to happiness.
As a kid, his father (also a bassist) taught him how to play Beatles'' songs on piano and guitar. Erik began his
songwriting career in his first rock band at age 10, where he performed his original songs at talent shows and
other school functions. At 13, Erik discovered his true voice in the bass. While still playing in local rock bands,
he was turned onto jazz by his father. Erik began to spend his summers at the Idylwild School of Music and the
Arts jazz program, where he studied with Bart Samolis (electric bass) and Marshall Hawkins (upright bass).
Erik soon outgrew the music education program at his high school and it became obvious that he was not challenged
enough to meet his needs. At the age of 15, he auditioned for LACHSA (Los Angeles County High School for the Arts),
a music magnet high school on the campus of Cal State Los Angeles. It was at LACSHA where his bass playing
and musicality really began to take flight. Erik played bass with the big band, orchestra, gospel and jazz choirs,
and all of the top combos. Here is where Erik began to get serious about the upright bass.
LACHSA made it possible for Erik to play with jazz greats such as Billy Childs, Terry Lynn Carrington, John Clayton, and
Peter Erskine. Instead of having an after school job like most teenagers, Erik began to play gigs professionally.
After graduating from LACHSA, Erik was accepted into U.S.C.’s Jazz Studies program, where he studied both Classical
and Jazz music with John Clayton. At U.S.C., Erik was able to play and study with Quincy Jones, Nancy Sinatra,
Frank Sinatra Jr., Monica Mancini, Carmen Bradford, Tierney Sutton, Shelly Berg, Alan Pasqua, Dave Carpenter,
Peter Erskine, Ron Carter, Frank Potenza, Richard Smith, Darek Oles, Bob Hurst, Kurt Elling, Wynton Marsalis among
others. He played with the USC Big Band, ELF modern music ensemble, The USC Orchestra, and many of the top
combos.
Also in his college years, Erik started a band with singer Sara Gazarek, who won Down Beat''s Best Collegiate
Vocalist award and signed a record deal with Native Language. Balancing school and touring with Sara was not easy,
but Erik did graduate in 2004 with a B.A. in music. Right after college he was accepted to the Mancini Institute,
an exclusive intensive orchestral film music program that accepts 84 musicians from around the world and only
5 bass players. Here Erik was able to play and study with such greats as Christian McBride, Burt Turetzky,
Carol Kaye, Doc Severinsen, Tony Bennet, Burt Bacharach, Mark Isham, Patrice Rushin, Chris Potter, Peter Erskine,
Kenny Werner, and Pat Williams, to name a few of these legendary artists.
After Mancini, Erik continued touring with Sara, both playing bass and writing arrangements for her. In 2005, he
played bass on her debut album, recorded at Capital Records. The album “Yours” was produced by his mentor,
John Clayton and engineered by Al Schmidt. Erik went on to record a total of 3 records for Sara and toured the U.S.
and Asia, headlining and supporting such artists as Al Green, Aaron Nevile and Dianne Shur, and The Dallas Symphony
Orchestra. During this time, Erik began to miss his "rock" roots and started working with other bands and artists around.
L.A. again. He met and began playing with Patrick Park, Miranda Lee Richards, Gregory Page, David Foster, Honey
Honey, The Sweet Hurt, Obi Best, Troyka, Belle Brigade. etc... As a result of Erik''s eclectic taste, he was asked to produce
Josh Nelson''s "Let It Go" and some tracks on Kathleen Grace''s "Mirror", in order to imbue these recordings with a more
modern, "rock" edge. Also, in his "jazz" days, Erik was able to work with such great artists as Michael Buble (Warner Bros),
Renee Olsted (Warner Bros), Royal Crown Revue, Gerald Clayton, Seamus Blake, Anthony Wilson, and many more.

Erik eventually left Sara Gazarek’s band to join pop singer, Josh Kelley’s band, whom he had met when asked to play bass
on Josh Kelley''s "Special Company" record. With Josh, Erik was able to play with and support such acts as Rod Stewart,
Collective Soul, One Republic, The Kin, Dianne Warren, Keaton Simons, Hootie and the Blowfish, Plain White Tee’s, Soul
Asylum , as well as many others. It wasn’t too long before acts like Pat McGee, Keaton Simons, and the Kin picked
Erik up as their touring bassist.

Erik has continued working with Josh, playing on 4 of his studio records and collaborated on many other projects together. They formed a song-writing team (KCK) in 2008 with pianist, Alan Chang (Michael Buble). KCK has written numerous songs for Josh''s and various other artist''s records.

Also in 2008, Erik hooked up with Epic Records recording artist, Lenka. Lenka quickly asked Erik to be her bassist and
Musical Director. Since then, they have been touring all over the world, both headlining and supporting such acts as Missy
Higgins, Justin Nozuka, Boys Like Girls, Brian McFadden, and other artists. Erik and Lenka toured over 20 countries in
2009 alone!

Erik plays and writes with dozens of bands and artists in the LA area and all over the country. He is currently working with
Lenka (Epic), Josh Kelley (Universal), Patrick Park (Hollywood), Drake Bell (Motown), Honey Honey (Iron Works), Pat McGee
(Warner Bros), Caitlin Crosby (Downtown), Greg Laswell (Vanguard), Gregory Page (Sounden), Keaton Simons (CBS),
Tony Lucca, The Kin, David Dyas, Dave Yaden, Eleisha Eagle, Graydon, Jamie Drake, Kathleen Grace (Monsoon),
Samantha Stollenwerck (the Pocket), The Sweet Hurt, to name a few. He has appeared on many TV shows and music videos.

in 2010, Erik commenced recording his first EP under the name Breakfast All Day with the help of producer Luke Adams (Pete Yorn, Mandy Moore etc).
