Trust is an artist who’s music is founded in life experiences and observations. From title track “Nobody’s Angel” – his professed love to a significant other to “9 2 Fo” a look into his once lived alternative to the 9 to five lifestyle eked out by the majority of society. Bouts with the law and incarceration, to homelessness to intellectual and emotional growth, it’s all here. Trust has successfully turned his South Central Los Angeles life occurances into a plethora of provocative stories and anecdotes – disturbing and at the same time insightful. The life of a well seasoned young man who has already become a veteran of street life at age 23. This evidenced in “Polluted by Tru Evil” where he let his emotions run loose, free-styling his thoughts of being born into an unhealthy existence and how he now questions that existence and past deeds, asking “What if I was innocent again?”
The edgy, but well dressed, well spoken Trust started writing at the young age of 12, inspired by the turbulent but thought provoking lyrics of “Tupac Shakur” and “Above The Law.” Comments Trust, “these lyrics spoke to me and got me through hard times, I felt like someone else knew my struggles.” “If someone else could struggle like me and make it, so could I.” A pen and paper became his panacea. For years, he lyrically battled people on street corners, local stages and neighborhood parties before ever walking into a studio. He wanted to make sure that what he had to offer was picture perfect and a perfectionist he is. Current producer SouljaAnt, states, “He shoots to get a perfect take the first pass, that’s his goal and that’s what he expects of himself – no less.” “It’s all business with him from the time he walks into the studio until he’s gone.”
Currently residing in Oakland California, Trust looks to shock his listening audience with a look at life that is not just hype, but truth, reflection and examination. DJ Kmaxx at Kpoo radio comments, “Trust is definitely an artist who’s got his own voice, he’s got a story to tell.”
Trust is boastful about his ability and says that “in front of a mic is where I am supposed to be,” however, when asked to describe the flavor he brings to the rap game, he explains, “I would appreciate it if we could just let the listeners come to their own conclusion, one man’s perception isn’t everyone’s reality.”
