Details:
The world of music is filled with boundaries. There are certain things that certain bands just can''t get away with. Certain styles that some bands simply can''t dabble in. When artists label themselves, they limit their creativity and when they limit their creativity, they get boring.

Travesty is a band. Travesty write the music they feel. They feel the music they write. Their music will confuse you. Their music will crush you. Their music will make you laugh. Listening to a Travesty album is taking a tour through everything that music has to offer. Progressive rock, alternative, blues, funk, hardcore...all viewed through the lens of heavy metal.

A diverse band is created from diverse members. Jonathan Price (vocals/bass) and Jared Losow (vocals/guitar) came together in February of 2004 with a common goal: to make new and exciting music. With Jonathan''s influences ranging from classic rock and metal to modern alternative, this meant music that was as original and entertaining as it was obscure. For Jared, who specializes (but is not limited to) anything and everything metal, this meant pushing heavy music to achieve all that it could. Jon and Jared experimented with other members, but the personal and musical chemistry was simply not there.

A demo was released and for nearly a year, Travesty remained a two-piece, until Mario Contino (drums/percussion) was introduced into the puzzle. Mario''s open mind and musical diversity made him a perfect fit. Rooted in progressive rock and funk, he introduced a techincal element of proficiency while still retaining a feel for the music. Mario is a perfect fit to all of Travesty''s songs, whether they be intense death metal or drum-and-bass driven psychadelica.

Another year and another lineup has produced "Adverse Effects", ten tracks of brutal, bone-crushing, blues-funk, progressive, death, thrash, doom, alternative, metal-rock. The moment that "Travesty", the anthemic, 9-minute, progressive metal instrumental, turns into "Little Bastards", the most hysterical and liberating song with double-bass in it, you will know what Travesty is about. Music that pushes itself to the limits of what it can achieve. Music that defies categorization. A form of expression that is completely free of any distortion.

Travesty continue to thrive with their recent joining of Seventh Level Records, a new independent label headed by Shane Tierney, formerly of Leviathan. The label''s mission to redefine the conventions of a record company is perfect for the unconventional ways of Travesty. Recognition from national press manifested itself in a spot in the November 2005 edition of Revolver Magazine. Disc Maker''s "Raw Talent" deemed Travesty worthy of a spot in the magazine.

Travesty are still in the process of growing....which is almost scary. They''ve already done so much with "Adverse Effects" The road ahead is an exciting one....one filled with endless possibilities. Songs are already being formed for their next release, before "Adverse Effects" has even been released. It will be hitting online vendors such as https://www.tradebit.com and https://www.tradebit.com by mid-January 2006. Pick up a copy and you will truly understand the Travesty.
