TIM MALCHAK

In a musical journey that began over 30 years ago, Tim Malchak has combined his passion for music with a calling for winning the lost to Christ, fueled by his faith and vision. Overcoming obstacles such as, years of drug and alcohol abuse and two failed marriages, Tim has emerged as a sold out disciple for Jesus Christ with a ministry that is growing steadily as he moves forward in helping to fulfill the Great Commission.

Tim was born and raised in Binghamton, NY. Although he grew up in the church, he was not strong in the faith as a youth. He chose, instead to live a life of self-indulgence, decadence and a “live for today” attitude. That lifestyle would catch up with him many years later. Tim was influenced by the singer/songwriter movement of the late sixties and early seventies. Artists like Jim Croce, James Taylor, and The Eagles were the inspiration that helped make him a staple in the Northeast College Coffee House circuit before heading west to Southern California.
Eager to gain any type of experience he could, Tim began opening concerts for artists as diverse as Spyro Gyra, and Commander Cody. But as the musical climate started to change he was drawn to a place where he could work at his songwriting craft and make an impact as an artist. That place was Nashville TN.

He signed his first record deal in 1985 with Alpine Records and enjoyed a string of releases, starting with his self penned “Colorado Moon” that broke the Top 40 in Billboard Magazine’s Country Charts and established him as a gifted and influential singer/songwriter. In 1987, Billboard honored him again as one of the “Top Ten New Country Artists” of that year.

In 1988 he signed a major label record deal with MCA/Universal Records and in May of 1989 his critically acclaimed album “Different Circles” was released. During that time he shared the stage with a veritable who’s who of country artists of that decade. People like Vince Gill, Alison Krause, Kenny Rogers, Emmylou Harris, Barbara Mandrell, Willie Nelson, and the list goes on. In 1993 Tim appeared on Farm Aid VI in Aimes Iowa that was viewed by over 200 million viewers on TNN.

At a time when things seemed to be headed for the top, that is when his personal life started spinning out of control. The drug and alcohol abuse was increasing and though he tried to hide it from his family and the public, his lack of good judgment caused his business to fail and ultimately found himself without a record deal. He went through a time a self pity and depression so severe that at his lowest point he found himself in a hotel room with a https://www.tradebit.comiber gun pressed against his temple. Unable to pull the trigger he gathered himself together and started making plans for a change.

Tim moved to South Carolina in 1992 and was still struggling with a void and emptiness left after so many years of chasing an elusive dream. On July 25, 1999 feeling broken and lost, he completely and totally surrendered his life as he confessed his sins to God and received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

In 2001 Tim recorded his 8th album and first Christian project “Pathway To Glory” on his own Parable Records™ label. That album helped to launch Tim Malchak Ministries, a concert ministry, dedicated to “winning the lost to Christ by the sharing of our faith through witness, music and testimony.” Since then his ministry has expanded into prisons, leading worship for inmates and using his music and testimony to share the light of the Gospel and the hope of salvation.

In December of 2003 his long awaited follow-up CD “Servant’s Heart” was released and yielded a Top-Ten Single in the UK.
September 2005 brings the release of Tim’s third Christian project, “Be My Peace” containing some of his best writing to date. Currently he is the music minister at Hilton Head Presbyterian Church (PCA) offering yet another vehicle to serve God. Tim’s prayer is that God will continue to use him as an instrument for leading the lost to Christ and that his music will be a Godly witness and a catalyst for revival everywhere it is heard!
