Details:
A classic favorite of fans around the world, SORRY SEEMS TO BE THE HARDEST WORD is one of Elton John’s and Bernie Taupin’s most covered songs. With so many versions of this song, Jason Beckett set out to leave a lasting impression and tell the story in a way that speaks to the heart of the listener.

Teaming up with acclaimed solo violinist, Aaron Ashton (Spartacus, The Seeker, Velveteen Rabbit, and Red Dragon), Jason brings old-world drama to this recording and presents a whole new experience for fans of this haunting melody.

When asked, “what is the story behind this song for you?” Mr. Beckett responded with the following:

JASON BECKETT: “I have always loved this song. I was enchanted by Elton’s original piano performance and that’s what got me to really pay attention to the story. I think when people listen to this song they hear something different, and I think that’s what makes it so incredible.

“For me, once upon a time, the song was about lost love, anguish over the end of a relationship that could have been saved by each person opening up and communicating. But, as I have grown with the lyrics and lived my life, I see that there are countless ways for this to be interpreted.

“As I was performing this song for the album, I was considering all the disasters in the world and the devastation experienced in many of the depressed areas of the world - people who literally wake up one morning to find that their family is gone; taken in the night by disease, famine, or natural calamity.

“Many people sit comfortable on their couch watching the news and thinking ‘that’s terrible, I feel sorry for them…’ and then go on with their life – never standing up to lend a hand or make a difference. In that instance, ‘Sorry’ is a worthless word that does nothing to change reality.

“The word ‘sorry’ never filled an empty stomach, healed a broken heart, or comforted the sick. And, it’s getting more and more absurd as many people around the world just send their ‘sorry’ and do nothing else. I’d like to think that this recording will inspire people to look around and see that there is more to do in this world than just be sorry.”
