Charles Mack Biography
Born to L.C. and Willie Mae Mack of Aiken, South Carolina, Charles was surrounded by music from his infancy. Raised on the south side of Chicago, his father L.C. and his close aunt and uncle were three of the most incredible Blues guitarists of their time and having this early positive influence could only point Charles in one direction; to explore and love playing music himself!

By the tender age of eight Charles had begun teaching himself to play piano, his first song being “The Creature Feature” bass line, and he then focused on classical music. He also found himself absorbing the expression and feel that Blues music insists upon by listening and watching his family play guitar and sing. The positive influence of this diversity from such a young age becomes very apparent as Charles begins to move through his musical career.

Charles performed in his senior high marching band, playing the tuba, which landed him a scholarship to Tennessee State University. From there, he entered into the Navy and eventually the Army reserves where his has performed nationally and internationally with Navy and Army bands in small ensembles, jazz trios, big bands, rock bands as well as country groups.

Charles has stayed dedicated to his career in music. As not only an exceptional bass player but also an accomplished song writer. Charles transcends a single genre and brings his experience and talent to everything from classical to contemporary jazz, blues to funk and R&B to hip-hop.

As a free lance musician Charles has had many opportunities to share the stage with a number of accomplished artists in a variety of genres ; alternative rock group Inflatable Soule, rap group Cypress Hill, blues and R&B artists Lucky Peterson, Grammy award winner, James Cotton, Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Otis Rush, Otis Taylor, Shemekia Copeland, Maria Muldaur, Marcia Ball, Bernard Allison, Jimmy Johnson, and numerous Jazz ensembles. He is also a successful band leader in his own right and has played numerous venues throughout the country.

Charles’ recording career takes him up even another level. Stepping into the studio with the likes of Cee Cee Peniston , Farly “Jackmaster” Funk and George Jackson of Ruff N’ Tuff Records puts him in some great company! In addition he has two of his own successful albums, “The Next Generation of Blues,” which has sold more than 10,000 copies and “Be My Crazy Dream,” both of which include all original songs.

Charles also maintains a strong internet presence. From his own website https://www.tradebit.com to a multitude of videos on https://www.tradebit.com, https://www.tradebit.com, https://www.tradebit.com, and https://www.tradebit.com to name a few, it’s easy to get a glimpse of what a live performance would feel like with Charles on stage.
