Terry Myrick has a heart of gold and the pipes to match. This Tampa-born, Manhattan-raised singer has sung on sgtages many artists only dream of. He''s had teh opportunity to sing on those same stages with gospel greats like the late Bishop Walter Hawkins, Tramaine Hawkins, Edwin Hawkins, Shirley Caesar, and Commissioned. It''s his amazing vocal talents that have gotten him there. He flaunts a range from baritone to soprano and a superb mastery of melodic vocal control. With roles in Off-Broadway musicals on his resume, he is readily embracing the title of recording artist as his new Sweet Melody Records project, Show Me The Way, comes to light. Peppered with strains of R&B, soul, and traditional and contemporary gospel, Show Me The Way lnot only puts the gift of Terry Myrick on display, but through it, he simultaneousy inspires the listener while expressing his undying love for the Savior. The story of Terry Myrick starts in Tampa, Florida. Growing up in a Christian home, he was never a stranger at church. The church was also where he was bitten by the music bug. With numerous singers in his family, it was no wonder that at the age of 8, he gravitated towards music. In fact, he ended up singing in church. "My most significant influences started whin I began singing in the church choir," recalls Terry. "That experience helped me to develop an ear for music and establish the ability to distinguish 3-and 4-part harmonies." As he learned the mechanics of music, he also developed a love for it. After the death of his mother several years later, he moved to Manhattan and was immersed in the bright lights and big city life of the Big Apple. Whie in school and in college, his passion for music grew and he sang in choruses in each of his schools. But is was hearing a commercial on the radio that set him on his musical path to destiny. "I was listening to the radio and heard them advertising for auditions for Mama, I Want To Sing," recounts Terry. Once hearing the ad, he knew he wanted to be a part of the Off-Broadway show. He decided to attend a showing of the hit musical and was forever changed. The music, the costumes, the action, the lights - it captured his heart and he knew he had to be in the play. He beat out dozens of contenders for a role in gthe cast''s ensemble and his performance even caught the attention of the lengendary Time Magazine which called Terry''s performance "soul stirring." In addition, he was pictured as a cast member in a photo which made Ebony Magazine. That opportunity opened doors for the amazing singer and he starred in "A Vision" and "Captain," both of which were Off-Broadway musicals. He continued to get noticed and eventually won the renowed "Apollo Amateur Night." He further broadened his musical horizions in 2005 when he started his own record company called Sweet Melody Records. Named for his late grandmother, Lillia "Sweet" Mosley, and his Goddaughter, Melody Torres, Sweet Melody Records is a dream fulfilled for Terry. The singer and songwriter recorded his first album on the label called I Bowed To The Father, and he found that he enjoyed the process of recording. After getting his feet wet with I Bowed To The Father, now Terry is releasing his sophomore project called Show Me The Way. "Show Me The Way was created to present songs that penetrate the heart. When I think of messages that I speak concerning God, I think of the power of the living God and HIs Awesomeness. Messages are spoken in each one of the songs on this album," says Terry. The project is a wonderful mix of contemporary and traditional, representative of the differing sides os the artist. But the beautiful thing is that it''s all 100% gospel. It''s apparent that Terry doesn''t want to be boxed in musically for he incorporates many styles on the record. Terry believes that there is something for everyone on the CD. "God has anointed each and every one of these songs so that someone can be saved, someone can be delivered, someone can be renewed, says the artist. "My goal i to spread "Show Me The Way" throughout the world. The brokenhearted must be healed, the backslider must be led back to Christ, the lost must be found, and the saints must be revived. My goal is to minister in songs as God continues to minister to me."
