Born in Harlem, NY to a gospel-singing mother and Nigerian father, Tenin is an undeniable talent. In just eight months the quadruple-threat (singer/songwriter/actress/producer) has gone from virtual obscurity to having been featured on https://www.tradebit.com, offered a major publishing deal, landing the lead role in the upcoming feature film “TUCHT”, and in August 2010: garnering more attention than Justin Bieber on international news site https://www.tradebit.com for the highly-publicized making of her music video, “HeadShouldersKneesToes”.
Raised in Plainfield, NJ-home of Parliament Funkadelic- Tenin is an emerging voice of her generation. It is her authenticity that is converting droves of listeners from North America, the UK and Central Africa into sold-out Tenin Baba Ndanani fans. Her heartfelt sing-and-rap-along tales about difficult relationships, lost girls, and fulfilling one’s purpose in life are set to pop infused Hip Hop & R&B beats that are inspiring fans around the world to unleash the greatness within.
With early comparisons to Lauryn Hill and Jill Scott, Tenin is staying her own course and fusing her musical theater flair with her soulful gospel roots and hip hop flow for a sound all her own. Tenin credits much of her burgeoning success to God and the preparation she has had. As a child, Tenin was a faithful member of the church choir, star of a regional children''s theatre group, and in college wrote songs daily while pursuing a BFA in Theatre Performance; though, it was her work with producer & friend Matthew Irby of Phantom Boyz/Warner Music Group that offered Tenin the opportunity to hone her songwriting and vocal arranging skills, eventually allowing her the chance to pen lyrics for Danity Kane.
Currently, Tenin is in the studio completing her highly-anticipated debut album slated for a Spring 2011 release. Of the album Tenin says, “I am so excited for everyone to hear what I’m doing. It’s so me...It’s fun and intimate and sincere. I’m just giving you truth: Love is real, life is hard and God is omnipotent.” Even with a full plate, Tenin finds the time to tour middle schools speaking to students and using her music to encourage youth to decide against gang violence, promiscuity, drug abuse and bullying, while her website https://www.tradebit.com draws hundreds of daily visitors.
