Sometimes our dreams seem a million miles away... We know what we dream of and what we long for, we just don''t know how to get there. I can''t tell you how many times I almost gave up on my album... It took me over 3 years to finish it. All I knew is that I had this drive inside of me that wouldn''t give up. I had some things I wanted to say to the world and no matter what it took, I pressed on until I finished "The Lucky One".
So what is it that I wanted to say to the world... lol.. Well, I will tell you. If I was on my death bed and you were my best friend, my last words to you would be to take my songs "Life Is What You Make It" and "Seasons" to heart... These songs are as deep as the ocean and contain soo much wisdom.... You need to know that life is not forever and every day we live is a gift. So - Dance For Life! (That means get off the bench and into the game!)
Now, what about my other songs? Yes, "The Lucky One" is based off of an embarrassing story that happened to me... How can you not dance to this song! What about the love songs? I am a romantic man, I feel deeply and guys - one of these songs might help you land that girl of your dreams!
"Just One Little Chance" is a very special song. I wrote it with the hope of it being in a Disney movie one day. Can you imagine a poor, but promising, young man in love with the prettiest girl in the village... His deepest longing is to be with her. All he wants is just one little chance, just one little dance - any where under the moon, any where under the stars...
"Breathe You In" and "Maria" are both special songs as well. "Breathe You In" is about a young man, lost in a world of past hurt and sinking deep into depression... He is rescued by the most amazing love. She breathed life into him and when he came to, he was face to face with the love of his life.
"Maria" is a song that you can definitely dance to. It is sexy and sensual.... The song touches on the excitement of that first glance, the first dance and the joy of being lost in each others eyes.
"In The Garden" - I wrote this song for my mother and gave it to her for her birthday. It is one of her favorite hymns. I have to say, there is something powerful about this song. I don''t care how fast your life is moving, this song will bring a strong peace to just about any situation or thought process... I did take a lot of liberties in the arrangement of this song. I really like the bridge and feel that it brings a nice levity to compliment the other tranquil sections of the song.
"Silent Cries" - This song had to be my best and it essentially drove me to finish my album. Every song I write has a moment that inspired me... The moment for this song came when I was at a local church and a women''s ministry was there. They gave a power testimony about the women in their maternity home and about the little ones that they helped raised. That night, God planted a seed inside my heart. What can I do to help? What can I do to give these women a better choice... A choice that will not leave them with a life time of regret... My answer was a song... A reminder of precious life and the silent voices that cry out to us in the regrets of our hearts
" The Promised Land" is written about two things - one, the obvious and two, the hope of our promises and dreams and not giving up on them. People often say I sound like another famous singer when I sing this song. Can''t believe he is copying my style! ;)
"Angels Watch Over Me" - How empty would life be without the hope of something greater! How much better would you be if you knew angels were watching every little thing you did! ;) I held up the release of my album for this very song...
"Your Love Is Amazing" - I have been at some very lonely and low points in my life. The pain of friends betraying you, people letting you down and just plain bad luck can almost be too much. If I said tears weren''t rolling down my face when I wrote this song, I''d be lying... But, I know in the midst of it all, there is a love from God that will carry us through anything that we face... No matter what the storm is, that love is always there. Now - it''s up to me (And you) to get off our butts and accept the health it can bring to our hearts.... Just saying...
So there you have it... Secret insight into my songs. Oh - there''s more secrets than I wrote, but I have to leave some of it up to your imagination. After all, that''s where the magic is!
