Details:
What happens when you mix one part Gordon Lightfoot with one part Jimmy Buffett ... add a dash of James Taylor, a pinch of Trace Adkins, and a spoonful of Cat Stevens ... then blend the concoction thoroughly with a serving of Eagles'' inspired Blackhawk? One need only sample a cut or two from Jim Davidson’s newest studio album “Bluffton State of Mind” to get a “flavor” for what this newest musical creation is capable of delivering.

Country at heart, yet steeped in the traditions of his southern & folk-rock heritage, Jim''s new songs have again delivered a unique message, and reinforced the sound he first crafted in 2006 on his first studio album, "Which Way From Here?". His baritone vocals are out front and intensely personal, yet his arrangements and delivery are surprisingly contemporary.

With "Bluffton State of Mind" however, Jim Davidson has taken his songwriting ability to new heights. The messages he presents and the stories he tells in his songs are a reflection of his "now", as well as his "yesterday". And as with his first album, Jim has again connected with a sizable audience both in, and outside of his coastal South Carolina lowcountry home.

“People who don’t know me often ask what kind of music I write. It’s difficult to answer that question because my material seems to cover so much territory. Whatever you call it, my songs tell the stories of my life. Great songwriters like Jeffery Steele, Chuck Cannon, Craig Wiseman, and Rivers Rutherford say ‘write what you know’. Well, after 7 years of playing and singling live in the Hilton Head bars and restaurants; preceded by a decade away from my music (I had a “real job”), I have continued to write not only what I know ... but what I LIVE as a resident of Bluffton, SC. People who''ve heard my new music agree that, as with my first album, I still seem to have a LOT to talk about.”

Recorded in February, 2011 on Nashville’s famed “Music Row”, Jim and his amazingly gifted producer Michael Bush, brought together a team of Nashville’s most sought-after session players to create “Bluffton State of Mind”. Jim''s “A Team” as he calls them, together with a team of veteran Nashville engineers, worked tirelessly to capture, refine, mix, and master the new melodies and lyrical messages of "Bluffton State of Mind".

And this time, Jim had "star power" on board. Jim welcomed friend and hit maker, Buddy Jewell to the vocal booth to assist in the making of "Rear Admiral Phil''s Song", and was honored to have master session keyboardist, Gordon Mote join him on both "Ed''s Oldfield Song", and on "It''s About Pride". Rounding out the 2011 recording team was Jim''s dear friend and musical "mentor", Henry Paul of the legendary "Outlaws" southern rock band, and also of the country music platinum selling band, "Blackhawk".

Regardless of a person’s taste in music – be it country, rock & roll, southern/folk-rock, timeless ballads, or just good old-fashion “real life” story telling, there’s something here for everybody. Whether it’s Bluffton, SC''s newest theme "Bluffton State of Mind", the hard-hitting country rock classic “It''s About Pride", or "When Everybody Was Smart", the hilarious “The Late Great 278", or the poignant and heart-gripping “Ed''s Oldfield Song" or "Forgive and Forget”, this new CD warrants consideration by any serious music connoisseur.

Whatever style or emotion it is that Davidson captures, he has managed to bring heart, soul, and his LIFE to the table, essential elements that will not escape his listeners. There is an unmistakable conviction in Jim''s lyrics, melodies, and messages ... but considering that his albums are recorded “on location” where legends tread, that should come as no surprise.
