Jamie Allen: Bio
Jamie Allens Debut CD, "The Storyteller" is about ready to be released! Its a killer melodic rock record with great vocals, soaring guitar solos, and a few rock ballads thrown in for good measure!

Jamie Allen is an American singer born James Allen Bumgarner in Florissant, Missouri on March 21st, 1970. He was singing "I Am Woman" and "Delta Dawn" when he was barely talking, and one of his earliest memories is his mom, Patricia, playing acoustic guitar and singing the Eagles classic "Lyin'' Eyes". "She taught me the chorus, so she could sing the harmony parts". Then as a young teen Jamie''s grandpa bought an Alvarez acoustic guitar, learned "Where The Buffalo Roam" and decided that guitar wasn''t for him, so he made a proposition to Jamie, "if you can learn to play a song on this thing, you can have it dear boy!" So Jamie took it and a day later played and sang "Saturday Night" by the Eagles and the guitar was his. Jamie could soon sing and wing just about anything on the acoustic guitar, and was the life of lots of parties through the 80s and 90s, but marriage and factory work kept him from really ever pursuing anything. It may have stayed that way if not for a chance encounter that changed Jamies life forever. "I was hanging out with some friends at the Baja Rock Club in downtown St. Charles when I was aproached by a guy who introduced himself as Kaje, he said I looked alot like Bret Michaels, and asked me if I could sing. I told him as a matter of fact I can! Kaje said that he is in a 3 piece band and that they would learn a bunch of Poison songs and all I had to do was come in and sing them, piece of cake!" Jamie soon formed Talk Dirty and had some success in the St. Louis, Kansas City area, eventually touring the Eastern states with Heather Chadwell of VH1 fame on the "Tattooed and Tattered with Heather" tour. Talk Dirty fell apart and Jamie was offered a gig with the Kansas City based Poison Overdose in 2008, and he still plays gigs with them today. As for songwriting, somewhere around 2004 Jamie was working at a Ford plant on the assembly line in St. Louis when he wrote his first song "Back in the Day", Jamie recalls "I was listening to tyketto on this huge stereo that i smuggled into the plant one piece at a time, and I was thinking about how all their songs stuck in my head, and that was the moment that i "got it". I wrote the chorus to Back in the Day in about 5 minutes, and thought that it would be a great Tyketto song!" Jamie kept writing songs and playing them for his friends until he played them on the Poison Overdose tour bus to guitarist Dan Tietjen. Tietjen liked them enough to start recording them and adding a little bit of magic to them. 5 songs were recorded at Tietjen''s home studio under the band name Snow White. Jamie happened to be a long time fan of solo recording artist and producer Johnny Lima, who has released the albums "Shine On", "Made in California" and "Livin'' Out Loud" among others, and has been behind the production of "Dirty Penny", "Miss Crazy", "Diamond Lane" and "Freakshow". Jamie brought Johnny Lima aboard to mix the Snow White Album that was under construction, but after a difference in opinion, decided that a solo album with Lima handling the production was the way to go. Johnny started recording some of Jamies songs and sent Jamie a few gems he had written that needed lyrics, Jamie and Johnny soon found that they were a great songwriting team! Jamie flew out to San Jose, California in July of 2010 to record all the vocals and acoustic guitar for the album, and Johnny handled all the instruments and the killer background vocals and mixed the album. So here we are about to hit 2011 and Jamie Allen''s solo debut "The Storyteller" is about ready to be released. Jamie wrote the words to 11 of the 12 songs, among his favorites are "The Way I Roll", "Superman", "Thats Rock n Roll" and "Reminiscing". "I would say the record is a bit Daughtry, a bit Bret Michaels, a bit Danny Vaughn of Tyketto, and whole lot of me" said Jamie of The Storyteller! Check out the Music section for lyrics and a litte bit about how the songs came about!!
