Hailing from Chicago, IL, J Dot Mike, is the newest rap Phenom to the Music industry. The 19-year old rapper is Prolific, original, and is prepared to let the world hear his natural gift.
Growing up on the Northwest side of Chicago, J dot Mike, aka Joey Colon, became heavily involved in music when he was 16 years old. He has always written music, and believed he had a future in it. "I write as an escape to another world, instead of facing reality," he says. J Dot eventually started progressing with each song he wrote.
In 2007 he connected with a friend, who has a studio, to record some tracks. "I''ve learned to stay focus and take criticism in a positive way because it will only better my technique," he says.
In 2009, he captured the attention of Grammy Award Winning Producer/Engineer/ and Songwriter, Ricco “Vet Boi™” Lumpkins of Platinum World ProjeX, LLC (PWPX). Ricco took an immediate respect for J Dot’s talent, signed him to a deal, began recording an album, and shot a video for his hit single, “The Dream/Toast To This!”
