Some Kind Of Haven is the collaboration between songwriter/producer Johan Stentorp and singer Alexandra Hamnede. Johan''s worked with many both Swedish and international artists over the years, such as Michael Learns To Rock, Peter Cox from Go West, Esther Hart, Simon Matthew, Charlotte Perrelli, Fatima Rainey, Ronan Keating, The Saints, Magnus Bäcklund and many more. Earlier on he was one half of the Powerpop-duo The Trampolines and even further back Johan played keyboards in Time Gallery (Produced by legendary producer Keith Olsen for Atlantic). Alexandra works as a Vocal-coach and has vast experience of backing up artists both live and as a session singer. She''s also worked together with Noel Hogan (from The Cranberries) on his soloproject Monoband. If You''ve seen the Sex And the City-movie, You''ve heard Alexandra singing the song "Kissing" which appears in the film, as well on the Soundtrack which made it to the number two on Billboard. It''s performed by the ambient-band Bliss, in which Alexandra was a member a couple of years ago. Some Kind of Havens'' music can be described as a mixture of the American singer/songwriter-tradition and the melodious english guitar-pop. Add a little bit of swedish melancholy and a slight touch of country and You might get the picture. "We are influenced by the work of female artists like Lisa Loeb, Aimee Mann and Sheryl Crow, but You''ll definitely find traces of bands like Crowded House and Squeeze as well, I''ll never let go of those roots, Johan says". "We''ve been thinking album from day one, trying hard to keep the same feeling the whole way through, we want the songs to connect both musically and lyrically, Alexandra says". Most of the instruments on the album are played by Johan and backing-vocals sung by Johan and Alexandra. Some additional guitars are played by Johan but behind most of the guitars You''ll find Pelle Jernryd (Once The Trampolines'' hired gun) and Marcus Jacobson.
