With three friends from high school, Mandy Moore, Harv Toop, and singer Anna Steinberg, Ledwidge Flynn formed a group, the Sleighbells. During this period, Flynn also began visiting local recording studios, and he eventually managed to win the confidence of record producer Gary ''Killer'' Charvel, coowner of Xenon Studios in Munich.
By early 2010, Flynn and his bandmates booked recording time at Xenon and with Flynn producing, the Sleighbells recorded "Like a kid at Christmas", which helped them secure a deal with Wholestar Records.
