Details:
Harmony Constant is the areas leader in original, heart felt, singer/songwriter artistry. Performing in the area for over 10 years this duo, made up of the husband and wife team of Mac and Cindy Jackson, is known to turn heads in any local they perform in. Their style ranges from story songs(such as Harry Chapin-esque) to Acustic Rock(the likes of David Gray and Michael Nesmith) and their harmony is without limit. Unlike many "party bands" to be found in N.E.P.A. Harmony Constant avoids the "Top Ten" songs that are constantly found on the radio. Instead choosing to create some of the most sincere Folk-Rock around.

"For as long as I can remember I have always loved good music. My parents tell me that my cradle was placed over the stereo speakers:) My father introduced me to the work of Jim Croce and Paul Simon as well as others. I would lay on my bed and play all the songs from my record collection over and over until I learned all the parts.

Then around 1986 I watched my first episode of "The Monkees" and was instantly drawn towards Michael Nesmith. I immediately connected with his humor and when I heard him sing I discovered a new level of music appreciation and depth. I realized this is something I had to do for the rest of my life. I was hungry for more and through my father''s suggestions and my own search I found the other music that would change my life and influence my career. Everything from Harry Chapin to the Everly Brothers. From Simon and Garfunkel to David Gray. I knew from watching those Monkee episodes that I wanted to learn guitar and try to be a "working musician" and I started to take lessons...until my guitar teacher split.

Through the years as I learned more about the differences in music style and technique I started to write songs...at least the lyrics since I couldn''t read tabs or let alone sheet music. After hearing me sing in the lobby of the office building we were both working in the local "Piano Man" Lee Strubeck asked if I wanted to sing with him at various venues around the area. It was great! Getting to sing somewhere every week and have a loyal following who were teasingly nicknamed "The Mac Pack" was very crucial in honing my performing skills. I also met my friend Pete who was trained in classical guitar and we started to perform under the title of "Folklore". I made the choice to start guitar lessons again so I wouldn''t be dependant on anyone in order to perform plus be able to put music to all the songs I would write.

Then on a trip to a Borders book store I met the woman who would be my partner in life and music. Cindy had been another singer since childhood. Taking piano lessons and singing whenever she could. She is proud to say that she was a total 80''s hair band chick. Big hair, posters wallpapering her room, the works. Besides the rocking tunes that everyone noticed she picked up on the great harmony of bands like White Snake and Poison.

As we were flirting and I was working up the courage to ask her out she told me about the previous bands that she had been part of and that she had just come from practicing in the back with her current band. I asked what songs they did and she said "We do a Mike Nesmith song". I hugged her tight in my arms and looked up to thank God. I knew I found my soulmate and the woman I would marry. The next day I played "Harmony Constant" for her and was blown away by the harmony she added plus our voices matched up perfectly. Cindy has the ability to instantly find the perfect harmony to any song she hears as well as belt out a mean solo on her own tunes.

She is much more likely to accept "unique" styles of music and I tend to be more of a music purist. We are always learing from one another. Hopefully you''ll agree it works for our music. After Pete left the group we thought it was only natural to call ourselves "Harmony Constant". It explains us pretty well. " - Mac
