Details:
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Mike learned to play on an old flat-top put together by his father from pieces salvaged from several old guitars. At the age of eight Mike was featured with house bands in several clubs in and around the Atlanta area. Club owners, convinced by Mikes father to give him a chance, had no way of knowing that this little boy would one day be playing alongside of some of country musics top artists.

In 1992 Mike was honored as the "Male Vocalist of The Year" via the Atlanta Society of Entertainers. By this time he was friends with and known by many of country music''s most famous entertainers, and began playing with the more than two dozen stars with which he''s shared the stage and studio.
Later came the obligatory move to Nashville, Tennessee. There Mike Brookshire quickly picked up positions playing guitar in and around the famed "Music Row." he was also a featured performer at "The Hall Of Fame Lounge." The Ford Motor Company also featured his work in commercials.

1995 brought a deal with a Los Angeles management firm, and a publishing contract with country star Gary Morris. Wheels were turning. 1996 was the year in which Mike began performing as lead singer for Travis Tritt''s country club band, which played at casinos and corporate functions until 1998. Then it happened, fate hit hard and fast.

Just prior to recording an album, Mike was informed that he had cancer, it was an awful jolt. But a dream realized for the first time as an eight year old boy playing in night clubs, was not going to be let go without a fight. True to his style and personality, Brookshire faced the initial grief and then fought the disease with all of his heart. The other option was not too promising and therefor not considered an option at all.

His is a story of inspiration and survival. He waged war on the illness. Despite the weakening effect of chemo treatments, cutting-edge therapy and procedures (a stem cell transplant) at the "Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center" in Seattle, Washington, he never gave-up on life or music. He hadn''t made it this far by being a quitter, too much promise remained. Although it took three years, the treatments worked, and with God''s help he won. Mike Brookshire beat cancer.

His career began both ripe and anew in 2001, resuming in the Atlanta area. He currently tours and plays solo dates around the south with his band, and has a great album out, "A Lot Of Explainin'' To Do." Between gigs and sessions, he also finds time to play at some of the industry''s biggest events and galas, such as his yearly appearance on stage with such artist as Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Sugarland, Montgomery Gentry, Brooks and Dunn, Reba McEntire and many more at the Academy of Country Music Awards In Las Vegas.

Mike is and has been the music director since 2002 for the Academy of Country Music and he still works closely with the Nashville industry. In 2008 the Atlanta Society of Entertainers awarded him the Mama Wynette Club Entertainer of the Year. In 2007, Mike was inducted into the “Hall of Fame” by the Atlanta Country Music Hall Of Fame, the “Visionary Award” by the Georgia Music Industry Music Association, and awarded “Song Writer of The Year” by The Atlanta Society of Entertainers.

Mike Brookshire is a man of patience and amazing vocal, songwriting, and performing talent. Most of all, he is a survivor, and a bright ray of hope for those who face the worst cruelties of life. If he can fight and win, so can others who are faceing and will face similar circumstances.
