***Official Press Release***

Since 2006, The Green Brothers have been spreading their distinct flavor of mid-west funk & hip hop across the country, from their hometown of Columbus, Ohio to sunny Southern California. After laying a solid foundation with their debut album "Everbody''s Green," they received praise from several world wide publications such as Hightimes, Skunk and Okayplayer. They have also enjoyed the opportunity to perform with many internationally known artists ranging from Slick Rick, to Devin The Dude, to Brother Ali. The Brothers return renewed, refocused, and rebellious as ever with I Get Lifted, their highly anticipated sophmore release.
Making a leap of faith, Claude 9 (the groups founder), decided it was time to fulfill a life long dream & relocate to San Diego. With its progressive culture, bustling scene, and new climate he felt it would be the ideal place to push the group’s career to the next level, and hopefully affect positive change along the way. Instantly after touching down Claude began scripting "I Get Lifted," lacing honest, poetic vocals over a cache of soul infused beats provided by his partner in crime DJ Bern One. Taking his new world of beaches, sunshine and medical marijuana cards and blending it with the ongoing struggle found in the streets and court rooms, Claude uses his pen to reflect his new surroundings and share his emotions openly, while aiming to capture the heartbeat of both the music and activist communities.
The Album is highlighted by its two singles and videos, leading with the self-titled “I Get Lifted,” a soaring anthem playing on the double meaning of the term, which reflects thoughout the course of the LP. Having received over 7000 hits on youtube in the first 2 months, generating a strong buzz thoughout the blogosphere, and appearing on the cover of NUG magazine as leaders in the Prop 19 campaign, The Green Brothers have left no stone unturned looking to plant their seed any and everywhere imaginable.
The second single “A Hero Named Rudy” is set for release in December. This song shares the amazing story of Rudy Reyes, a local medical marijuana patient that suffered burns on over 70% of his body saving his family from the cedar wild fires in 2003. “I Get Lifted” marks a new directon for the brothers as lines like “I know I’m crazy, but listen baby, no one in their right mind changed the world lately,” and “Give thanks for you, and give thanks for me, give thanks for US together finally,” set an upbeat tone while slicky sprinkling the album with positive yet hardhitting truths.
Not to be overlooked are Bern One’s funk and soul drenched beats, which stand as the backbone of the album and bring a new sound into The Green Brothers fold. Reaching deep into his mountains of dusty crates, Bern One pulls obscure samples and molds unique sounds with the refined ear of a seasoned beatsmith. His DJ roots show strongly in his production and are apparent on tracks like “Tonight We Dance,” a certified dance club banger guaranteed to move any crowd. On other tracks like “Our Time To Shine,” he displays precise crisp cuts, adding the subtle nuances that polish the album into a smooth cohesive offering.
The Green Brothers aren’t your average weed themed hip hop group. Both Bern and Claude are
adamant about pushing their craft and culture forward with intelligent, provacative subjects that stay accessible and catchy. From the moment you hit play, “I Get Lifted” leaps out of the box and takes us back to a time when people made albums, not just collections of random tracks. Back to a time when it was just about making good music and the distinct unique bond formed between the listener and performer. To a time when Hip Hop had meaning and people danced in the streets...
“I Get lifted” is like the first day of vacation, a hug from a loved one on a cloudy day, a new strain you''ve never smoked before. It''s like finding a golden ticket or a four leaf clover. It''s freedom from the ties that bind and it''s the little voice inside that says stand up and reach for the wildest corners of your imagination.
The Green Brothers don’t get high. They Get Lifted.
