Small hours cinematic actually started out as a comic book storyline set in a dark alternate universe. Each song was tied together by a common desire oriented theme. As the focus increased on the songwriting it became clear that the music had developed into something more than just a story line.
We were very inspired by the background music and rich sonic textures of the movie “Lost in Translation” and after working with numerous other bands as a session musician where often the goal was to layer a song to death, Glitter Assassin presented a new challenge by attempting to limit the number of tracks and instruments used in each song. All of the songs were written on a laptop using a minimal set up and less than 8 tracks. Many of the drums and sounds were created using iphone apps or software synths. No auto tune was used in the recording of Small Hours Cinematic.
